Imperial have sealed their place at DreamHack Open Summer after defeating GODSENT 2-0 (16-9 on Mirage, 16-3 on Train) in the grand final of the European closed qualifier. Imperial and GODSENT made it into the final round of the qualifier after beating AGO and Valiance, respectively, in the semi-final stage, both by 2-0 scorelines. Both finalists had made it to the last stage on the back of great individual performances from young talents. In Imperial's case, it had been Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, who temporarily replaced Asger "AcilioN" Larsen on the roster, leading the charge, while for GODSENT it had been Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin doing the heavy work. The final kicked off on Mirage, Imperial's map pick, with the Swedish side opening things up with a successful CT pistol. Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and co. responded immediately in a force-buy, however, and strung four rounds together to take control of proceedings. GODSENT responded with their own four-round streak, but Imperial showed great composure and lost just a single round before switching sides. In the second half, the Swedes still rallied back after losing the pistol round, but Imperial quickly retook control of proceedings and locked down the map, 16-9 scoreline. The Copenhagen Games champions carried that momentum into the next map, Train. This was GODSENT's map pick, yet Imperial kept shutting the Swedes down with a very tight defence, losing just a single round in the first half. Now on the CT side, GODSENT took the pistol round to keep their hopes alive, but it was all in vain as Imperial would quickly wrap up the series with a crushing 16-3 scoreline.
